Camille Charret to become pro for ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement in 2026

French junior road champion, the young member of VC Villefranche-Beaujolais has signed up for the 2026 and 2027 seasons with the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS continental development team. Before that, he will spend a full season with his club in the N1.

Camille Charret's verbatim:

"It's a double opportunity to sign a professional contract with the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, but also to be able to spend a transitional and apprenticeship season in 2025 in the N1 ranks of Villefranche-Beaujolais, my training club. This will give me a bridge between the amateur and professional worlds. I'll also be able to continue riding track throughout these seasons. This career plan between myself, my amateur club and the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team was a decisive factor in my choice. It's what I wanted to gradually continue my progression. What's more, I'm going to be continuing my studies. In a few days' time, I'll be taking my baccalaureate, and next year I want to go on to higher education."

Camille Charret was spotted by Léonard Cosnier on the track. A member of the Pôle de Saint-Amand Montrond, this puncheur, who has since become French junior road champion, wants to continue his studies while pursuing his sporting career. He will join the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement training squad with a contract for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, and will complete a number of training courses within the structure before these dates. Camille Charret has chosen, in consultation with our Development team sports directors Maxime Bouet and Léonard Cosnier, to continue his cycling career by staying with VC Villefranche-Beaujolais in 2025, his training club managed by Anthony Barle, which is a real breeding ground for young talent. This additional amateur season with an N1 club will enable Camille to continue his cycling apprenticeship from the junior ranks, before turning professional at the start of the 2026 season with our continental development squad.

Camille Charret was in the French junior track team in 2023. I quickly spotted some great qualities in him, which were confirmed by his good start to the 2024 season. This winter, he finished 6th in the elite French Pursuit Championships while still with the U19s. Since then, he has won the French road championships in this category. For the moment, Camille is primarily a rouleur-puncheur, but I think he has room for improvement in a number of areas. We spoke to his parents, himself and his training club, and the decision was taken to leave him in the amateur ranks in 2025 so that he can continue to hone his skills in the N1 category with VC Villefranche-Beaujolais. This will allow him to perfect his cycling skills before joining the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team from 2026.

Manager of VC Villefranche-Beaujolais "Camille Charret has been a member of the VC Villefranche-Beaujolais U19 team for the last two seasons. He exploded onto the road this season, winning the title of French Junior Champion. What I liked about the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team's approach was that Maxime Bouet and Jean-Christophe Moussard called me first to tell me they were interested in Camille. I liked the fact that they respected her training club and highlighted the work we do. It's nice to feel valued in that way. A real exchange was established between us, with mutual trust as the key word. Maxime wants to build his team by valuing and respecting amateur clubs, and that's gratifying for us, because we're at the root of youth training. Respecting our work and what we put in place with the youngsters is a pleasure, and makes for an even closer relationship. The fact that the team managed by Emmanuel Hubert is letting Camille stay with us for another year so that he can gain experience in the N1 is also sending out a good signal to the youngsters: ‘It doesn't mean that just because you're going to spend another year with the amateurs, you won't go professional. Camille is proof of that.
