In a breakaway from the start of the day, Pierre Thierry took 3rd place in the 4th stage of the Tour of Slovakia. His first podium in the professional category.

It was a stage that we had marked out to be in the breakaway. We knew it could go a long way so I did everything I could to be in it. The peloton gave us a lead of up to 10 minutes, so we were able to manage. On the last climb of the day, Adamietz attacked. I preferred to ease off and went downhill. Our two other breakaway companions came back at the red light, and I took advantage of that to go into the finish in 2nd position in the quartet. I was well placed until the last bend. When I wanted to start the sprint, I unfortunately took off my shoes and finished 3rd. It's annoying to come so close but I'm trying to put it into perspective. It's a great result, the form is there and I'm very happy to have achieved it on a race of such a high level as the Tour of Slovakia

It's our second podium of the season and the first time this season that we've come so close to victory in Class 1. It was great to experience these emotions. Before setting off, we had targeted this stage knowing that the breakaway had a great chance of going all the way. Everything went according to plan, with Pierre managing to slip into the leading group and the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS riders also doing a great job behind. Pierre hung on in the final climb and finally finished 3rd in the sprint. Considering the level of this Tour of Slovakia, we can be proud.
