Racing for the tricolore jersey

The ARKEA-B&B HOTELS cyclo-cross team will be aiming to take the tricolour jersey on the Coët Roz circuit in Pontchâteau this Sunday. A course on which our three riders Amandine Fouquenet, Clément Venturini and Rémi Lelandais have shone in the past.

Pontchâteau is home to Jean-Yves Plaisance, France's ‘Mr Cyclo-cross’, and a legendary circuit both in France and internationally. It's a place of many emotions: my 1st French Cadet Championship, my first victory in the Junior World Cup, 4th in the European Elite Championship and many other meetings during the French Championships and Cups. So I'm going into this weekend with extra motivation, and of course my ambitions will be high as I fight to win a 7th title. The competition will be tough, and David Menut and Joshua Dubau can legitimately be considered favourites. I've tried to prepare as well as possible for January, which is the ‘money time’ of my cyclo-cross season.

Amandine Fouquenet

I have very fond memories of the Pontchâteau circuit. It was on this Coët Roz site that I won my first French Championship title in 2021 Elite and Espoirs. I also shone there last year when I finished in the Top 10 at my first European Elite Championships. It's a circuit that I like and that suits me, so I hope to be there on Sunday. I've done everything I needed to be in good shape for the start of 2025 with the ambition of going for a second national Elite title. We'll have to handle the pressure well. My family and supporters will be at the side of the circuit and I'll have to use their energy to outdo myself.

C'est assez particulier de me dire que je vais participer à mon premier championnat de France Élites, mes années espoirs sont passées vites ! C'est assez spécial aussi de courir aux côtés de Clément Venturini parce que c'était un peu mon exemple quand j'étais dans les catégories jeunes. On me comparait souvent à lui. L'entraineur national, François Trarieux, m'appelle "Le petit Ventu" du fait de notre ressemblance sur le vélo. J'aborde la course assez simplement, je ne me mets pas de pression particulière, le début de saison a été assez compliqué pour moi. Je vais essayer de faire les choses bien jusqu'au bout, tenter d'inverser la tendance et de profiter au maximum du moment. Avec l'équipe ARKEA-B&B HOTELS, on a de quoi arriver sur ce championnat avec de grosses ambitions, chez les femmes comme chez les hommes. On a la possibilité d'aller chercher deux beaux maillots.
