A few hours after Maeva Squiban's 7th place at the same venue, Clément Champoussin climbed onto the 3rd step of the podium of the Grand Prix de Wallonie between the walls of the Citadelle of Namur.

The Grand Prix de Wallonie was nervous because of the wind, but in the final we were well positioned, Clément Venturini, Vincenzo Albanese and myself. There was a lot of movement in the final kilometres, but the peloton regrouped on the climb up to the Citadelle de Namur. I managed to get a good position in the last kilometre, and three hundred metres into the last bend, I was able to reel in quite a few rivals. I'm now in third place and that's where I am at the finish. It was coming back quite a bit from the back and I'm happy to have managed to hold on to my place. I'm having a great season, I've had a string of good results since the Arctic Race of Norway, and others after that. My victory in Tuscany was good for my morale, because I'd been waiting for a win for a while. It's also an event that was close to my heart, and one that I wanted to win. Today's Grand Prix de Wallonie didn't really suit me on paper, but I scored a podium. Now the season isn't over yet. There are still a few races to go and a good fortnight to stay focused. And I'm going to do everything I can to keep up this great momentum.

I said before the race that positioning would be crucial in the final. And so it proved. Clément Champoussin moved up to 3rd place in the last bend and finished 3rd at the finish. It's a really good result. We had a moment of inattention when a group of 25 riders went out without us. It didn't have any consequences but it was a reminder that you always have to be vigilant. We've had a complicated phase but our riders are doing well, and collectively we were there on the final climb with Vincenzo Albanese and Clément Venturini.
