Maeva Squiban took 5th place in the road race of the French Championships, two days after her 4th place in the time trial.

Today, in this online race of the French Elite Championships, it is the strongest who are in front. For my part, I gave everything and finished 5th. The race scenario was bizarre. It took a while to settle down even though I thought the start of the race would be more difficult. In the end, everyone looked at each other. At the end, there are girls who leave and it goes to the end... For a moment, I found myself in a group at the front. It wasn’t planned but I felt there was an opportunity. But it's been too messy to go far. I was hoping for a few girls to come back but not as big a group as the one that came back. It's disappointing that it ended like this.

The goal was not to finish 5th. So when we look at the result, we are disappointed. Throughout the race, the girls from the ARKEA–B&B HOTELS team did a great job collectively. We had given instructions to be in the breakaways from the start of the race. They accompanied all the blows until Marion Bunel came out. Maëva panicked a little when she saw Marion Bunel all alone in front. It wasn't a bad idea to try a move with three laps to go. If we do a briefing before the race, we also let the girls feel the race. That's what happened. Maeva is in a royal escape that could have gone to the end. The dsm-firmenich PostNL team did a great job behind for Juliette Labous who won in the end. We are being beaten by stronger players today.
