Kevin Vauquelin and Anthony Delaplace completed the French championships on Sunday, between Avranches and Saint-Martin-de-Landelles, in the group for 4th place. They finished 11th and 16th.

After my second place on Thursday in the time trial, 3” from victory, I was revengeful. I wanted to succeed. It didn't. I think Paul Lapeira (French champion) ran well. The objective in a race like this is to get a head start. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take it. When Paul Lapeira left, I didn't see him. I had a moment of latency and I didn't know how to jump at the opportunity. From then on, I knew it would be difficult. I'm disappointed because I felt good.

The ARKEA – B&B HOTELS team did not achieve the expected result. We were aiming for the title of champion of France. We missed the boat four laps from the finish when the group with Paul Lapeira left. Behind us we have not managed to change the scenario. With Kevin, we arrive to play for the 4th place. A championship, you always have to be attentive. Today we had a little moment of hesitation and it’s a shame. I want to remember the behavior of the young people from the ARKEA–B&B HOTELS Développement team who worked well to protect us.

There is bound to be disappointment. There are decisive moments in a race that should not be missed. With four laps to go, we missed one. In the final, once the groups formed, it was game over for victory. In a championship, it’s only the podium that counts.
