Léandre Lozouet wins the bronze medal at the U23 European Road Championships with the French team.

It was quite a special race. There were a few breakaway attempts at the start and, finally, the selection was made during the first passage of the Mont where the Dutch imposed their tempo. We found ourselves with a dozen riders at the front, but the understanding was not ideal, so I placed an attack in the Mont on the next passage. We found ourselves with three, and managed to open up a small gap. I was really thinking about the victory, because we had a very strong French team today, and I wanted to capitalize. With 10 km to go, I saw that we had a 15-second lead, but I didn't know if a teammate was in the counterattack. We gave it our all until the line. I paid a little for all this effort and finally finished third. When I crossed the line, I was a little disappointed for the French team, but in the end, we didn't do too badly. I was beaten by a stronger team and I have no regrets, I have rarely gone as far in the effort as in this race. I would like to thank the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team and my coach for listening and trusting me throughout the season, as well as the French team and its staff. This bronze medal comes as a reward both on an individual and collective level for all the work accomplished.
