On the first mountain stage of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, Cristián Rodríguez was at his best, finishing 13th on stage 3 among the best climbers of the event and even going on the offensive on the final climb to La Molina.

I knew the Molina stage from last year. I'm happy with my race and my final climb. I was well up with the best. Very good indeed, because I was able to attack with eight kilometres to go. I had a good feeling. I was a bit frustrated after the first stage, but now I'm focused on doing good stages in this Tour of Catalonia. And I'm sure that the results will come. The team has given me a lot of help and support, the staff, my team-mates and the team managers, and today's result has put a smile back on my face. I'd like to thank everyone for their hard work and their encouragement.

Cristián finished today in La Molina on the third stage of the Tour of Catalonia with the best riders. He even attempted an attack to anticipate the battle between the favourites for the overall classification. In conditions that suited him, and on a real climber's stage, he demonstrated an excellent level. This is encouraging for the rest of the Tour of Catalonia. Embret Svestad-Bårdseng broke down on the final climb. It's up to us to seize any opportunities that may present themselves between now and the end of the Tour of Catalonia.
