Emmanuel Houcou, the 1st Martiniquan to achieve professional cyclist status, looks back on his first day of racing at this level at the Challenge Mallorca.

Luca Mozzato and Emmanuel Houcou got lost with four kilometers to go, and then we ran out of manpower for Luca. The team was very involved up to five kilometers from the finish. The sprint was against the wind, so it was difficult to come back in the final stretch.

I learned a lot from this round of the Challenge Mallorca. We probably took the helm a bit early. Baptiste Poulard did a great job, as did Laurens Huys. But we were a bit short-handed after that. The last five kilometers were very hectic, and we got lost with Luca Mozzato. It's a shame to miss out on a good place for him. But it was a first for many of us at this level. We were able to get our bearings and see what kind of automatisms we'll soon have. And the aim is for the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team to improve, both individually and collectively.
