Raúl García Pierna, who escaped on the third and final stage of the Tour de la Provence, finished 6th and won the best young rider classification.

The aim on this third and final stage of the Tour de Provence was to get into the breakaway and win the bonifications. From the very first kilometres, things went fast. There were lots of attacks. I was well supported by the ARKEA - B&B HOTELS team. Although the first two riders in the general classification had some room to manoeuvre, it was very tight behind them with ten riders within a few seconds of each other. So the bonuses were very important. After the first bonus, I attacked. There were five riders at the front. I managed to take the second bonus and then we were caught. On this final day, I benefited from a lot of hard work from the ARKEA - B&B HOTELS team, as on the last two days of the race. I'm sorry I didn't have the right legs on Saturday on a stage that was important for the overall classification. That's cycling. Thanks to all my team-mates.

At the pre-race briefing, we insisted on not having any regrets. With the bonus system, there were still seconds to play for, especially on a flat 200km stage. That was our guiding principle. We went out and got those bonus seconds. There was a terrible war at the start of the stage and all the ARKEA - B&B HOTELS riders were involved. Raúl García Pierna was in the breakaway. He took the 3 second bonus. We did our job, grabbing what we could. In the overall classification, Raúl ended up 6th. What I remember is that we rode our race. We raced well tactically, with courage and team spirit.
