A mountainous event on the Espoirs calendar, the Tour de la Vallée d'Aoste opens on Wednesday for climbers from the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team.

The Tour de la Vallée d'Aoste is one of the big objectives of the season. It's the first time I'll be taking part in this highly competitive event. The first stage will be intense and then the difficulty will increase day by day. With five riders per team, it promises to be a tough one. It won't be possible for a team to make trains over the passes and set a sustained pace. It's going to be a bit of a bumpy ride. We'll really have to be strong to compete.

The Tour of Valle d'Aosta is a mountain race on the U23 calendar. The first stage, which is only 40 kilometers long, sets the tone. Having taken part in this event in my younger days, I remember that it only goes up. All the best development teams are at the start, and there are only 5 riders per team... It's going to be a race every day. We're fielding a solid group: Embret Svestad-Bardseng is coming off a good Tour de Slovaquie, Jean-Loup Fayolle has just put in a fine performance at the Tour du Piémont Pyrénéen, so he'll have an opportunity to reveal himself at a higher level. Louis Rouland, Pierre Thierry and Baptiste Gillet are all still with us, and we can count on them to help the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team move in the right direction.
