Maeva Squiban takes 7th place at the summit of the Citadelle of Namur

On the heights of Namur, Maeva Squiban took 7th place in the Grand Prix de Wallonie on Wednesday.

No breakaway managed to get away, so we had to be patient and stay put. We had to be patient and stay in position. It happened with around twenty kilometres to go in a bump. There was a group of around 25 of us who got away and we made it to the finish. The decision was made on the slopes of the Citadelle and those who took the lead on the last bend were the first to cross the finish line. I was full of energy on the climb and I made a few efforts that paid off in the end. We're still hoping for better, but 7th place is still a good result given the legs we had on the day. The girls in the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team had faith in me today, and they kept me well in place throughout the race. When you're in the lead and your team-mates believe in you, it's even more motivating.

We tried to get into the race early on, especially with Clémence Latimier, our trainee. But as expected, the World Tour teams locked up and waited for the final climb to the Citadelle of Namur. Maeva Squiban, in 7th place, achieved a fine top 10 in a tough race when you look at the startlist. There was even room for a better result. Above all, it shows that the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team is always on the ball and always present in races of this type.
