This Friday, the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team will be at the start of the Tour d'Eure-et-Loir, a tricky race with roads that are often exposed to the wind.

I'm just coming off a three-and-a-half week personal training camp at altitude to prepare for the cyclo-cross season. I can't wait to get back on the road, I haven't raced since the Tour d'Alsace. I've already taken part in the Tour d'Eure-et-Loir, which is similar to the classics: short bumps, small roads and wind. It's a good combination that could suit cross-country riders like me or Lucas Janssen.

The Tour d'Eure-et-Loir is a demanding race in which you need to be wide awake and focused from day one. The profiles don't have many gradients, so every second and every bonus will count. For the record, I won this race in 2007 as an amateur, so I know what to expect. We have a team of road-sprinners with several maps. We're bound to have some wind and some technical roads, and concentration will be one of the key elements if we want to perform well.
