The Basque event will mark the return to competition of Élie Gesbert.

It's finally time to start running again! I'm delighted to be hanging up a number on my ARKEA-B&B HOTELS jersey after a long period without running following my iliac artery operation. I've worked hard in training. I'm feeling good, the sensations are good. I'm also coming off a training camp with my team-mates. But Getxo will enable me to get back to my job as a professional cyclist. I'm highly motivated, even if I'm aware of the unknown that awaits me, as it is every time you return to competition after several months' absence.

The Circuito de Getxo is a tough 200-kilometre event with a 2,500-metre gradient. It is run as a circuit. The first is a loop to be completed five times, followed by the final circuit to be completed twice, which includes the final climb that graced the first stage of the 2023 Tour de France in Bilbao. That just goes to show the level of difficulty. Laurens Huys and Simon Guglielmi will be there to help us get a result. It's also worth noting that the Circuito de Getxo will be Élie Gesbert's comeback race after his iliac artery operation.
