Kevin Vauquelin: ‘I was aiming for a top ten’.

Kévin Vauquelin took 10th place in the inaugural time trial of the Tirreno Adriatico on Monday at Lido di Camaiore.

I was aiming for a top ten finish, as I did last year, in the opening time trial of Tirreno-Adriatico. I finished in the top ten in this event, which features some very good rouleurs. I would have hoped to be a bit higher on this stage. What's encouraging is that quite a few riders who are aiming for the overall classification in this event finished behind me. That's a good start to the week and bodes well for the rest of the race.

It's a satisfying time. Kévin Vauquelin's top 10, when you look at the level of this year's Tirreno Adriatico, is a good result. Before this time trial, I said that a place between 5 and 10 would be good. That's where we are. He's only a few seconds off the top 6. I'm confident for the rest of the week. He's there with the riders in the general classification.
