Maeva Squiban sprints to 3rd place on the last stage

After her victory on Friday, Maeva Squiban took another podium finish on the roads of the Tour de l'Ardèche. 3rd on the final stage in Privas, she finished 5th overall.

There was never really a breakaway today. After the day's main difficulty, we broke away into a lead group of around twenty riders. I was able to count on the support of Titia Ryo at the end. It looked like a bunch sprint, there was a lot of friction. At the 500 metre mark, I was in 7th or 8th position and then I managed to climb back up to 3rd place on the stage. I think I put in too much effort in the last kilometre to be able to hope for better. We had to rethink our plans for the finale of this Tour de l'Ardèche. A stage win, a podium, some good places in the top 10, and a top 5 overall to finish, I can be pretty happy with my week here.

Not much happened on this final stage of the Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche. In the final, Maeva Squiban and Titia Ryo found themselves in the first group, so all bets were on them to win the stage. With the help of Titia, Maeva finished a fine 3rd today and 5th overall, while Titia was 14th in the same classification at just 19 years of age. However, the results of this Tour de l'Ardèche are mixed. It started well on the first day, even if Maeva conceded a little time. Then the retirements of Lotte Claes and Valentina Cavallar forced us to revise our plans. Nevertheless, we managed to get Maeva Squiban to win the time trial, which is good news for an event of this level. We were hoping for a bit more at the end, but we had a very good ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team this week, we raced well and it shows that we can repeat such fine performances between now and the end of the season.
