Alessandro Verre and Mathis rode more than 250 kilometres in a breakaway at Milan-San-Remo. Kévin Vauquelin finished in the peloton.

It was the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team's “plan” to be represented at the front. It took a bit of time to get going and I found myself at a disadvantage at the start of the race before joining Alessandro Verre at the front. Then a nice breakaway of 8 riders formed. We got on well. When the pace picked up on Capo Berta, I was a bit short of energy. If we'd stayed together, we might have been able to go a bit further. It was tough and fun at the same time. No regrets, it's always good for the future to do 250 kilometres in a breakaway.

Milan-San Remo is a special race. We spoke about it this winter with the staff of the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team, and I was a bit apprehensive about this race, particularly in terms of positioning. Unfortunately, I ate the match report a bit. My team-mates did a good job, but I lacked the drive to place myself at the foot of the Cipressa. We were hampered by a crash and I made an effort with Tom Pidcock to get back into the peloton behind the leading trio. That certainly cost me on the Poggio and I wasn't able to defend a better result in the end.

Le point positif de la journée, c’est cette échappée. Mathis Le Berre et Alessandro Verre ont respecté les consignes en étant devant. On espèrait que cette échappée aille loin et passe en tête la Cipressa pour servir d’appui avant le pied du Poggio. L’équipe ARKEA-B&B HOTELS n’a pas de regrets à avoir même s'il y a une petite déception sur le résultat final. Compte tenu des jambes que Kévin Vauquelin avait, il y avait mieux à espérer.
